Children and Young People’s Best Practice Forum
The first of a series of staff training and awareness sessions, sponsored by the APB, took place on the 30th September
The theme of the event was ‘Normative Youth’ and covered
- A re-cap on critical issues in adolescent development and substance use
- An exploration of the application of the Complexity Index
- An understand the function of the SPUR process
The key note speaker was Phil Harris – Consultant Lecturer at Bristol University and Substance Misuse Practitioner.
The Forum was aimed at Tier 2 and Tier 3 front line staff across North Wales who work with children and young people with complex needs and those who have an increased risk and less resilience in becoming involved with substances.
Feedback from the event was very positive:

25 evaluation forms returned to Phil Harris
All delegates rated the event highly relevant to their work.
Two more sessions are planned for the 2016 and interest is high amongst staff in attending.
